About Us
Our Aim is to make the Client Satisfied.
QuiSoft Limited is a Northern Ireland software development company. We write QuiSuite: accounting and business software that you own outright, running on the computers you already have, with your data held in an open database that no vendor can lock away from you.
Our mission
To give every business, charity and club software it truly owns: running on the computers it already has, on Windows, Apple Mac or Linux, with its data in an open, non-proprietary database, and never locked in to a vendor's proprietary system.
What we stand for
Independence
No lock-in. Your data sits in an open-source PostgreSQL database that you control. If we ever stop suiting you, you can walk away with everything.
Local support
We do not believe in call centres. The best way to solve a problem is to sit at the customer's machine and solve it, with years of knowledge and experience behind you.
Use what you have
QuiSuite runs on Windows, Apple Mac and Linux, so the computers you already own keep working for you. No new hardware, no hosting fees.
The people
The people behind QuiSuite bring between them more than 70 years in public practice accountancy.
Tony
Public Accountant
With more than 35 years in public practice accountancy, Tony has witnessed first hand that financial accounting systems are trending towards steeper learning curves for new users, or else missing out on core functionality.
John
Principal programmer
A software author, also with more than 35 years at the front line of public practice accountancy. Our software is not based on what we want to give you; it is based on our extensive experience of what clients actually need.
Who we work with
- Sole traders and small businesses
- Growing multi-user offices
- Charities and the voluntary sector
- Clubs, societies and associations
- Landlords and letting agents
- Community enterprises
- Accountants and bookkeepers
At present we serve Northern Ireland only. That is deliberate: our support is personal and hands-on, and we would rather be able to call in than leave you holding on a helpline.
Your confidentiality
We do not divulge our customers' details, so you will not find testimonials or a client list on this website. Every new customer has a month to make up their mind; if QuiSuite does not suit, you can simply walk away. Where customers stay with us, we will never reveal that they use our software. Anything else would break every rule of confidentiality.
Accreditation
We will seek HMRC recognition for Making Tax Digital for VAT in December 2026, and for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax as soon as HMRC reopens applications.
Our history
- Around 2000The story starts with an accounting system first developed around the year 2000. It was put to work in businesses of every size, from multi-million pound companies to small sole traders.
- 2020QuiSoft Limited began as an idea during the 2020 Covid lockdown, while the UK was working out how to leave the European Union. It was clear that Northern Ireland would be left in a different position from the rest of the UK, and that its businesses would need software that understood it.
- 2021The Northern Ireland Protocol took effect on 1 January 2021. Development of QuiSuite began that year, built to handle the Protocol. With the Brexit changes, Making Tax Digital and the advances in technology since the original system, a full rewrite was the only sensible course.
- 2023The Windsor Framework was agreed in February 2023, and QuiSuite was changed to implement it.
- 2024Version 1.00 was released, after extensive error checking, to selected clients for exhaustive testing in real businesses, to iron out any potential bugs.
- October 2026After two years of testing and correction, the first release candidate was completed in mid October 2026. QuiSuite now runs to over 150,000 lines of source code, with between 6,500 and 7,500 hours of work invested in it.
Why we built it
QuiSuite arrives as the established software companies roll out HMRC's Making Tax Digital, which has now reached Income Tax after VAT. During our development it became clear that many vendors use it to lock customers in to their own proprietary systems: a low introductory fee at first, then annual fees that keep on rising. Once you are locked in, leaving is hard, because a VAT inspection can look back two years and a tax inspection up to six. You need your records, and the vendor holds them.
QuiSuite turns that around. Your data is in an open database on your own premises. Our prices do not go up for existing customers, and nothing stops you leaving.
Built by people who know accounts
Our developers know most of today's accounting packages well. One of them produces statutory accounts for Companies House and HMRC from clients using a wide variety of packages, so QuiSuite is shaped by first-hand experience of what works, and what does not.
What comes next
Future Vertical Applications will be led by our clients. We have published four: QS Bookings, QS Charity, QS Rental and QS Membership. Two more are already running in client systems. Both clients are in the voluntary sector and needed a system that did not tie them to a vendor; at their request they remain anonymous, and they alone hold the rights to their source code.
